Residents: reporting repairs

During office hours

If you believe the Society is responsible for a repair in your home, report the problem as soon as possible.

Call us on 01223 312294, visit our offices in person or write to us at 89 King Street, Cambridge, CB1 1LD. Our offices are open Monday to Thursday 8.45am to 4.45pm and Friday 8.45am to 4.30pm.

Out of office hours

The Emergency Call out Service will operate after office closure, Monday to Thursday 4.45 pm until 8.45 am, and from Friday 4.30 pm until Monday morning at 8.45 am.

Call Simpson Hall Building Contractors on 0772 567 8725 for heating and plumbing repairs such as:-

Loss of heating in winter

Loss of hot or cold water, when there are young children, or there is an illness in the house

Leaks which cannot be kept under control with container

General and structural repairs such as:-

Loss of lighting or power to sockets

Structural damage to walls or roof

Broken window or doors causing loss of security to your home

Being locked in or out of your home (in some cases this may be a rechargeable cost) i.e. lost keys or keys being locked inside the property

If you suspect a gas leak please contact Transco on Freephone 0800 111 999.

If you have a power or gas failure, do check to see if your neighbours are affected because it could be a mains supply failure. If you use prepayment cards please check that there is still money on the meter or contact your mains supplier.

Please remember when contacting any of these contractors you must tell them your name and address and that you are a resident of King Street Housing Society. The contractors will only deal with emergency repairs and will not take messages to be passed on to us later.

They will arrange for an appropriate contractor to call and make safe any defects. It may be necessary for a contractor to call back to complete the repair.

If you smell gas, turn off the whole supply at the meter and contact Transco immediately on 0800 111 999.
